"DAFFODILS"

"DAFFODILS"

The botanical name of this plant is genus Narcissus, a spring-flowering bulb from the family of Amaryllis. Its name was derived from the youth Greek mythology Narcissus, according to legend, was drowned in a pool of water because he was so obsessed with his own image on the water reflection, into which he fell down...and his remains (dead body) became the Narcissus flower.

A warning: the bulb (mostly) and and the leaves have alkaloid poison producing narcotic properties (narcoa, to numb in Greek).

But it has a sweet fragrance.

And Daffodil has been chosen to represent some aspects of human life, too..here they are...old and new situation.

It is symbol of Chinese New Year...bringing wealth and good fortune...xing yun [luck] in Chinese.

A number of cancer societies around the world: American Cancer Society, Canadian Cancer Society, Irish Cancer Society, The Cancer Council Australia...use the Daffodil as a symbol for awareness and fundraising...Daffodil Days.

This kind of Daffodil is the national flower of Wales...traditionally worn on St. David's Day...perhaps because it is always blooming in March.

Who is St. David...Dewi Sant...as is known in Welsh language...was born in South-West Wales coast in the sixth century.

Dewi became a monk...later the Archbishop of Wales...spreading Christianity among the tribes of Celtic pagans of Western Britain...a saint.

He is also famously known...Dewi Ddyfrwr...David the water drinker. He is said to only and only drink water in his life...water is the fountain of his life.

Sometimes during his devotion...he stood up to his neck in a lake of cold of water...reciting Scripture.

Please ponder...the story of about the following remark in the next photo...

"Have not those disbelievers [al-kafiruun] known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as 'ratqan [patching: one united piece] then We parted them? And We have made from water every living things. Will they not then believe?" Al-Quran, Surah Al-Anbiyaa', 21:30

1,400 years ago...St. David lived...and some years later in 610 AD the Holy Book of Al-Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad SAW in Makkah.

Beautiful colors...and pleasing shapes...harmonius balance...Who is the Creator of these things?

The name David is a Hebrew word meaning...beloved...in Arabic Dawud. He was the second king of the united Kingdom of Israel... and a prophet from three thousand years ago...who lived circa 1037 BC-970 BC.

The book Psalm...in Arabic...Zabur...was credited to the authority of Prophet David according to Al-Quran.

Scientifically, Daffodil's flower is rather interesting...its has six petals...such a number is the structure element of a hexagon [a geometric plane of six sides]

The hexagon structure is the structure of a perfect form and shape of water molecules when they are bonded together in a cluster...making up a dome like a hexagon.

Honeycomb in a beehive is also shaped in hexagon format...the most efficient use of space in storage by nature.
